In the Morning When I Rise, Give Me Jesus

“In the morning when I rise, give me Jesus” is a phrase you may have seen in your Facebook feed or various social media feeds, but for me, this phrase is the very yearning of my soul, for Jesus is the one I want, and He is the one I need. In the morning when I rise, give me Jesus, for without Him, I am nothing.

In the morning when I rise, give me Jesus so that I may be able to bask in the love of His presence. In the morning when I rise, give me Jesus so that I can grow in the fullness of His grace, for I am unworthy of the grace that came down from above. God, who was perfect in all His ways, stepped down from His thrown so that I might be able to fellowship with Him.

In the morning when I rise, give me Jesus.

My love for God expounds deeper than the outside, for my love for Christ is who I am. My love for Christ is found in the depths of my soul, my love for Christ is unceasing, and my love for Him is in every single thing I do. I seek to love Him so much, that those who are around me see Christ radiating from me, for it is not about me, it is about Christ.

I seek to grow in Christ, for stagnancy hurts one’s relationship with Him. You cannot grow in Christ if you are unwilling to step out of your comfort zone, for Christ does not call us to be comfortable, but He calls us to be uncomfortable. He wants us to step outside of the boat and to keep our eyes on Him, He wants us to give our hearts to Him, and He wants us to place our full trust into His hands, for He split the sea, He silenced the waves, and He can do it again.

““I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” John 15:5

Gives me Jesus, He is the air I breathe. Every word, every sentence, and ever verse that is written in His Word shall be written on my heart. I hunger for His Word, I am unable to get enough of His Word, for my soul is in constant need of Him and His love. I am just a young woman, that is all I am. I am nothing without Him, yet He says I am worth more than rubies, so why would I not love Him? Why would I not worship Him, and why would I not proclaim His name for all to hear?

“But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes[c] we are healed.” Isaiah 53:5

It breaks my heart when I hear people say “I am too broken for Jesus,” for no one is “too broken.” The very reason why Christ died for us was so that we could be made whole. It is by His stripes that one is healed; therefore, there is not one person who can claim to be “too broken” for Jesus, for the name of Jesus has the power to break every chain that a person might have.

It breaks my heart when I hear people say “There is no God,” for there is evidence of God all around. That sunrise you saw this morning was painted by the master Painter known as God, that breath you just breathed was due to God allowing you to breath, and the very reason you are here is because God gave you a purpose, but sadly, many choose to believe in logical theories rather than in the reckless love that is found in Christ Jesus.

If only they knew how immense the presence of God was, for when God’s presence is upon you, it is overwhelming, it is like a fire, it is more than a flame, and it is a light you cannot contain. His love, His glory, His mercy, and His grace flood you like an ocean, and as the lyrics go, “if grace was an ocean, then we’re all sinking.” How I wish I could tell these people “He is real, He loves you, and He wants you to fellowship with Him.”

He wants you, He died for you, He does not want you to have pain, nor does He want you to be empty, but He wants you to be complete. He wants you to be fully consumed in Him, and He wants you, your heart, soul, and mind.

“Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever.” Psalm 118:29

Many people ask “Why do Christians always speak about Jesus,” but if only they knew about the power of Christ, then they would not stop talking about Him either. If only they knew about the mercy, grace, and love that is found in Christ, they would share Him with each person they laid eyes on, and if only they knew about the unending joy that is found in Christ, they would joyously speak about Christ without ceasing, for they will want to proclaim the freedom that is found in Him.

So yes, give me Jesus when I rise, and give me Jesus before I lay my head down to sleep. Let Him be my every thought, my ever motive, and let my speech be seasoned with grace and salt. May each person who comes in contact with me see Him through me, for it is not I who lives, but it is He who lives within me.

My favorite quote by C.S Lewis goes along these said words, for He states, “don’t shine so that others can see you. Shine so that through you others can see Him,” and his words cold not be more true. It is not about I, but it is about Him. My life is a direct reflection of Christ. In all that I do, it will be done for the glory of God, and I pray the same too you.

Some say I am we are too “obsessed with Christ,” but I would rather be “too obsessed” than place my faith on the back burner. I would rather be so in love with Jesus, that He is seen within me. I want His Will done for my life, I want Him to guide me through green pastures, I want Him to be with me when I walk through the valley, and I want Him to be by my side during new seasons that occur in my life.

“He only is my rock and my salvation;
He is my defense;
I shall not be moved.
 In God is my salvation and my glory;
The rock of my strength,
And my refuge, is in God.” Psalm 62:6-7

He is my foundation, and He is the rock I stand on. Without Him, I am a leaf flowing in the leaves with no stability. He is the reason I am the woman I am, He is the reason I sing, and is the reason I have joy. I normally get asked, “Christina, do you ever get angry,” and while I am a human and stumble at times, I try to always make joy my prerogative, for due to being redeemed in Christ, nothing can bring me down.

When Jesus said “it is Finished,” He meant it. No word, no deed, no bad day, and no thing can change the words that He spoke on the cross, and though I may go through bad days, I always remember than I have Jesus, and due to His love, I do not worry. If Jesus is able to defeat the grave, then He can conquer my problems and my fears; therefore, I refuse to let anything get the best of me to the point where I act irrationally, for Jesus already said “It is Finished,” and He declared victory in my life.

Therefore, give me Jesus, so that I may stand strong when the waves are rough, but give me Jesus even when life is good and splendid. When I seem to have all I have prayed for in life, I still will ask for Jesus, for He is the one who blessed me, He is the one who is the Maker of my soul, and He is the one who is first in my life, so give me Jesus even when all seems ‘well,’ for my worship for Jesus  is not only during the bad times, but I worship Him during every single emotion or season I may have.

In the morning when I rise, give me Jesus, for without Him, I am nothing.
