It’s Not A Gun Problem, It’s A Sin Problem

Sin is rampant, sin keeps increasing each day, and the lost world is not realizing that they are in need of Jesus like never before; however, we are more worried about making this about a “gun issue” when we are not realizing that this is a sin issue. A gun isn’t what killed the people, but it was the evil person who held the gun that caused the vile evil to occur. No amount of government reforms will stop the evil actions of a person’s heart that is turned away from the gospel of Jesus Christ, so the way we fight this evil is by spreading the love of Christ so that this world can find Him!

“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12

The Scriptures are stronger that a two-edged sword, and it has the power to stop the evil and the hatred that we see going on. The gospel has the power to change, it has the power to transform, and it has the power to change even the dirtiest heart into gold, so why aren’t we spreading the gospel more? Why are we sitting back watching this unfold?

How many massacres are we going to have to live through to realize that people are in need of Christ? How many times are people going to have to die to realize that we need to make sure that they know that Christ loved them enough to die for them? Even if we can’t change the mind of a killer, we can make sure that innocent civilians have hope in Christ.

Yesterday, there were souls that were taken from this world, there were people who were killed by an evil man, there were people who were killed out of pure evil of the devil himself. The real issue is domestic terrorism against us believers, and we are being targeted for our faith, so when are we going to fight back?

The shooter was known to hate us, to hate those who believe in Christ, and he had a horrible history of crimes, so this was an obvious attack against those who are strong in Jesus Christ; however, as believers, we can fight evil with Scripture!

“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31

If God is for us, no one can stand against us. Though people lost their lives for their faith, I am pretty sure they loved the Lord so much, and they died passionately for Christ, and we must be willing to bravely share our faith so that more people can find Christ. When we willingly go out and proclaim Christ, more people will begin to hear the gospel, ask questions, and find Him, and this will limit the power of evil.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.” Matthew 28:19-20

We are called to make disciples out of all nations, and we need to do that much more! We need to combat the evil with the love of Christ, for He came to save the world, He came to set us free from bondage, and He came so that we could have a way back to the Father. Evil is no match for God’s power, evil is no match to Christ, for Jesus conquered the grave, and evil is no match for the saving power of the gospel of Jesus Christ!

I want this to be a wake up call to believers that this world needs Christ. Just look at the evil and look at all that is happening! We live in a Godless society, and we need to bring Him back, we need to bring that love for Him back, for when we do that, more people will find Christ, more people will give over their evil ways for the truth will be revealed to them, and with the power of Christ, no evil can prevail.

I remember my parents telling me when America had God as a central focus, before we had people wanting to take Him out of school systems and out of everything. People got a long better, the crime was low, and no one ever thought of harming another individual. When we flood this nation with the gospel, evil has no room, so we must all be unashamed of the gospel, for it has the power to drive any evil force out of this country that is lingering!

“We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 5:8

We must not allow this to make us live in fear, we must not use this to be an excuse to stop living our faith, and we must be more brave! To be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord, and those who lost their lives yesterday are with their Heavenly Father! They are in no more pain, they are in a place where there is no sin, and they are in never-ending joy!

Therefore, we need to begin spreading the gospel like never before, because these past few months of pain and massacres have showed us that this world needs Christ, that we need to bring God back into the forefront of this nation, and we need to show that Christ is the answer and can defeat any evil that is in this country.

A bill cannot stop evil, a reform cannot stop evil, and restrictions cannot stop evil, for the only one who can silence and cause all evil to stop is Christ, and we must spread who He is to this lost and dying world, so we need to proclaim who He is like never before.

We must not let the evil of this society scare us, for it should be the one thing that drives us to wanting to tell others about a man who has defeated evil with His sacrifice!

I pray for the families who have lost a loved in the church shooting in Texas yesterday. My heart and prayers go towards the families, and again, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, so they are living in glorious happiness right now, and I pray that the fact of knowing that those loved ones are with Jesus brings comfort to the families.

With Christ, we can overcome evil.

With God, no one can stand against us,

And this world has already been defeated, so let’s show lost people that Christ can save them from darkness and bring them into the light.
