Christ Loves Us; Therefore, We Must Love Others Like He Loves Us

On the cross, His blood shed. One the cross, people mocked Him, made fun of Him, and tested Him. On the cross, Jesus’ love poured out for us. A man, who was sinless, went to the cross so we, sinful humans, could have eternal life. We are undeserving, we are guilty, yet He still loved us!

Jesus thought we were worth dying for even before we ever existed. His love for us was so much, that He took the cup of wrath even though He begged God to take it away. No humanly love can compare to the love that was shed on the cross. Yes, we may get married and have a human love, but that love cannot compare to the love of Christ.

Unlike human love, God’s love is perfect for He is love. While society is against His love, they persecute us for accepting His love. They say that God is hateful, bigoted, and “fake,” but that is simply not true. How is a man who gave His life for us hateful? How is a man who made a way for us to have eternal life “bigoted?” He loved us while we were still sinners, and that speaks volumes.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

His love for us runs so deep, that we can’t even begin to comprehend it. His love is so overwhelming, that it consumes us completely. Our God, loved us so much that He would give his only Son! That kind of love is immeasurable, indescribable, and full of compassion.

While the world has made love seem like a cycle by getting together, having sex, and then breaking up, Christ showed us what true love really is. True love is loving someone so much, that you would be willing to give up your life so they could live. Christ the epitome of love! When we love others, we should love like Christ loved us!

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.” John 13:34

Christ commands us to love one another like He loves us, which is not easy at times when you have those who are against you. However, even though Christ knew that this generation would be against Him, He stilled died for them anyways. He stilled loved them and gave them a chance, so we should too.

Many people think loving someone means accepting their sinful ways, but that is not the case. Loving someone is correcting them, encouraging them, and helping them with they fall. If you love someone, you do not let them continue to do something that will destroy them or their soul. We must love like Christ loved us, and He never hid the truth, He never stayed silent on issues, and He corrected those who were wrong. He didn’t do those things to be hateful, but He did those things because He loved them. He loved them so much, that He wanted to show them their faults.

“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her,” Ephesians 5:25

Christ’s love for the church, upholds even more value. When it comes to a man, a man must love his wife like Christ loved the church! A man must be willing to lead his wife, correct his wife with love, and he must be willing to risk anything for his wife.

Again, we are too be Christ-like, which means we must love like Christ loved us. We must be willing to forgive, we must be willing to love, and we must be willing to risk anything for those who we love. Love isn’t just a word, it is a verb! Love takes action, it takes will, and it takes a heart who has accepted Christ’s love. How do you expect to know love when you don’t even believe in the love that was shed for you on the cross?

Without Christ’s love, we would never be able to comprehend the word “love.” We would not be able to know what that is like. Christ is the very first person who loved us, and He sets the standard for love! He showed the world the real definition of love! Since He loved us, we are able to love Him back! We are able to fellowship with Him, and we are able to love others like He loved us!

“Let all that you do be done with love.” 1 Corinthians 16:14

In all the things we do, we must do them in love. The word “all’ cannot be measured, it cannot be put on a limit, for the word is endless. We must do all things in love. Think of all the things you do, and now think of the fact that you have to do all of those things in love! As humans, with various human emotions, this task may not always come easy, but with Christ and His love, He can soften our hearts to make it possible.

His sacrifice made it possible so we could give love to others. When we accept Him into our heart He changes our heart, which then gives us the ability to love in all things! Therefore, we cannot say it is impossible to love when the Bible says different.

Valentine’s Day is around the corner, and whether you have someone or not, show love in all things. Love Christ even more than what you have been, for He was your first love! Exemplify the love of Christ to others, whether it be your loved ones, those who you do not know, or those who are unloved! When we take the task of loving everyone like Christ loved us, we will see a mass of people become gravitated towards what we have, which is the love of Christ!
