Once we get saved, we are no longer slaves to our sinful past. Christ has broken the chains that we were in and set us free! He cleansed us and made us new! What we did in our past before we were saved has been forgiven and forgotten, but so many people still hold on to who they were before they were saved. So many people still have regrets even though Christ has forgiven them!
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9
When we confess our sins, Jesus forgives us and He cleanses us. We should not feel any guilt or pain due to God’s forgiveness. If Jesus is willing to forgive us of our sins, we should be willing to confess and leave them in the past. We are no longer slaves to what we were before we were saved. When Satan tries to attack us with our past, we must remind him of his future, which will be an eternity in the lake of fire!
“Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.”Galatians 4:7
Galatians 4:7 even says that when we accept Christ, we are no longer a slave! We should rejoice and do all we can for the Lord! Our past has nothing on us and does not define us, so do not put yourself back in the chains that the Lord has set you free from!
“For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”” Romans 8:15
When you became born again, you were adopted by God! You didn’t become a slave to fear, but you became a child to Him! Why let your past dictate your future when God has taken you off the path that you were in? Christ took you from your situation and made you new! Now, you must let Him mold you and shape you into the person He wants you to be!
” “Come now, and let us reason together,”
Says the Lord,
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
They shall be as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson,
They shall be as wool.” Isaiah 1:18
Once you have been washed clean like wool, your past can no longer have any control over you. Do not allow your past to enslave you! We were all on our way to Hell before we were saved, so why are you letting that enslave you? Christ saved you, which means your past has no power over you!
Christ forgets our sin when we ask Him to forgive us, so we should do the same. Christ did not save us just for us to enslave ourselves with a life of regrets! We all had a life full of sin before we found Christ, but that’s why Jesus died for us! He died for us so we could have a way to confess our sins! He died for us so we could fellowship with Him! When you linger on the past, you are hurting yourself from growing in Christ!
Once He has set you free, you must let go of your past! It has no holdings on you, so do not give it any power! You are no longer a slave to your sinful past, and if the enemy comes around, you tell him his future! Jesus has already won the fight, so the Devil cannot do anything to harm you! Call on the name of Jesus, and the Devil will flee! Since you are no longer a slave to this world, Satan cannot harm you for you are a child of God!
