Beauty Goes Deeper Than The Surface

In today’s society, we are wrapped up with physical appearance, physical stature, and anything that goes with the outer appearance, but the outside isn’t what matters. You can be pretty on the outside, but be unattractive on the inside. Your personality and walk with Christ is what gives you beauty! When you live your life in the light, that light shines through you and makes you beautiful!

Ladies, do not go chasing a man just based on looks and appearance. Looks aren’t everything, and some of the hottest men have turned out to be women beaters, cheaters, and so forth! I understand that attraction is normal, but don’t let that be the only thing that you look for! If he doesn’t have a relationship with Jesus, drop him, because he isn’t worth your time!

When it comes to ourselves, we must examine are soul. Is your soul pretty or would you consider it disgusting? When it comes to your soul, you can’t apply foundation to cover up the sin. The sin is there and it sticks out! When you live in sin and have no morals, that will show in your appearance! I remember meeting a guy who I liked, but the moment he opened his mouth and utter trash came out, he was instantly unattractive to me!

Believe it or not, your character has a lot to do with your appearance, so stop focusing on the outside and focus on the inside! First, we must make sure we are strong in our walk with Christ before we go “beating our faces with makeup.” First, we must make sure we have the fruits of the Spirit in our hearts before we go buying pretty clothes. First, we must make sure we are humble before we go out in public!

Just because you get a certain “number of likes on your selfie on Instagram,”
doesn’t mean you’re beautiful. True beauty runs deeper than the surface. The outer apperance isn’t even the start of where beauty comes from!

“Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel— rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.” 1 Peter 3:3-4

Even Jesus said that you shouldn’t let your outward beauty be the only thing you focus on. He says that you should let your beauty come from your heart! 1 Peter says that beauty that comes from a gentle and quiet sprirt is incorruptible; therefore, you need to make sure your spirit is pleasant to the Lord!

Like I said in one of my posts before, Jesus looks at the heart and not on the appearance! (See 1 Samuel 16:7 for more!) Your appearance may be everything to other people, but to the Lord, He could care less about whether your “Makeup looks good” and He could care less about how your “Clothes are designer,” because none of that matters to the Lord. If you have sins in your heart and have trouble with certain sins, then that will show through your daily routine, which will make people think differently about you.

“For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.” 1 Timothy 4:8

1 Timothy 4:8 does say that the physical appearance does have some value, but the heart always outweighs the outer shell. When you are godly and have a strong walk with Christ, that gives you profit not only here on earth but in heaven as well!

Don’t focus only on your outer appearance. Along with maintaining your outer looks, you should also keep your heart godly and strong in Christ. With maintaining your heart, that will shine through and make you even more beautiful than you could ever imagine!

When we die, this body is going to be left behind to rot in a grave, but our souls will be in eternity. With that being on your mind, is your heart godly? Is your heart filled with the fruits of the Holy Spirit? Does your character reflect the way you want to be viewed? If your soul needs cleaning up, then pray to the Lord! Pray for Him to clean your slate and to put a desire to end any bad habits!

With a heart of gold and on fire for Christ, you will turn heads, so don’t be ashamed or scared to show your inner beauty! Let it shine and be seen!
